Sensirion expands the possibilities of thermal flow measurement in laboratory analytics and industry. With the help of a new design, engineers have succeeded in developing a high-flow sensor with significantly higher liquid flow rates of up to 1 liter per minute. The Swiss manufacturer is thus advancing into a new dimension of accurate flow measurement and expanding their portfolio.

Qmicro by Sensirion will present the DynamiQ-S micro gas chromatograph at Pittcon 2023 in Philadelphia, PA, USA. The DynamiQ-S provides fast and accurate gas analysis for monitoring or industrial lab analysis purposes.

Despite a challenging economic environment, 2022 was once again a successful year for Sensirion. The environmental product portfolio (Dust [PM2.5], CO2 and Formaldehyde) remained the key growth driver, supported by a one-off special demand for medical CPAP devices.

In the second half of the year, a slowdown in demand from consumer-sensitive end markets such as Appliances and Consumer was observed. However, the long-term strategic goals remain on track thanks to further implementation of the growth strategy.

The year closed with consolidated sales of CHF 321.7 million (+11.9%), of which CHF 28.3 million can be attributed to the one-time special demand for CPAP devices. Adjusted for this one-time special item, sales grew by 10.5%. The gross margin achieved an above-average value of 59.2%, while the EBITDA margin reached high 27.8%. Both key profitability figures will normalize due to investments made in growth opportunities throughout the year.

Sensirion’s affiliate IRsweep launched the first cost-effective spectrometer product with industry-leading lead times. With their new IRis-C, they are making spectroscopy more accessible for a variety of lab and field applications.

Sensirion announces the SHT40I-Analog humidity sensor developed specifically for demanding industrial applications and harsh environments, where high noise levels might preclude the use of digital solutions. Customer-specific output characteristics for high-volume applications enable easy design-in. 

Sensirion reduces the lead time of its humidity and temperature sensors from 14 to 8 weeks.

Seeed Studio launches the Grove all-in-one environmental sensors featuring Sensirion’s new SEN54 and SEN55 environmental sensor nodes. The environmental sensors detect multiple indoor air quality parameters and are designed for HVAC and air quality applications.

Sensirion announces the STS4xA, a highly reliable digital temperature sensor series specifically designed for automotive applications. The sensor platform supports automated optical inspection and comes with an advanced on-board diagnosis system.

Strong customer demand for Sensirion’s latest environmental sensor solutions in addition to a further decrease of its lead times despite the continued challenging global supply chain circumstances resulted in 14.2% revenue growth year over year. The now normalized pandemic-driven demand for ventilator sensors was compensated by another one-off special event from the medical market, which was due to a large-scale replacement campaign by a major CPAP customer. Long term strategic objectives are on track and remain unchanged despite moderate short-term slowdown effects and low visibility on the markets. Consolidated revenue amounted to CHF 164.8 million, and the gross and EBITDA margins reached high values of 59.7% and 29.6% respectively.
