The Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court, which acts as the appellate court in the current patent infringement lawsuit, now continues Sensirion's infringement action against Acal Bfi, a German distributor of Cubic Sensor and Instrument Co., Ltd, regarding the offer and sale of certain particulate matter sensors. A final decision is expected after the oral hearing scheduled for April 2026.

Sensirion AG has defended its disputed patent (German part of EP 2 145 171). In its decision of February 26, 2025, the German Federal Patent Court ruled that the patent remains valid, albeit in a restricted form (case no. 5 Ni 31/22 (EP)). The decision of the Federal Patent Court is subject to appeal.
