Luisa (fixed-term employment until start of studies)
Luisa completed an apprenticeship as a Federally Certified Business Administrator (FEZ) at Sensirion. She is now working as an Associate Operational Purchasing in the purchasing department for a fixed term, after which she will commence her studies. Luisa was delighted to be able to stay at Sensirion, so she didn’t have to look for a new position during the stressful exam season. She spent six months in the purchasing department during her apprenticeship, which meant she was already familiar with the work processes and the team; however, she soon realized that the move to full-time work entailed a big change. With five instead of three working days a week, she now assumes greater responsibility and is even more closely involved in the various activities and projects. Luisa is grateful for the opportunity to have experienced seven different departments during her apprenticeship. This enabled her to gain a better understanding of the links between the departments, which continues to benefit her in her day-to-day work.

Felix (working student and part-time employee)
Felix completed his apprenticeship as an automation engineer at Sensirion with a Federal Vocational Baccalaureate. Alongside his studies, he now works as an Associate Equipment Engineer at Sensirion (40% FTE). After his apprenticeship, he was initially employed full-time for nine months. He then took the opportunity to travel for three months before starting his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at the Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences. Felix has been combining work and studies since the beginning of his studies. He particularly values the sense of community within the team. He enjoyed his work as an automation engineer even while he was still in his apprenticeship. Felix didn’t see the transition from trainee to employee as a major change, as he was already considered a full-fledged employee during his apprenticeship. His responsibility grew when he took over the machinery, but he can always count on the support of his team if he has any questions. Being familiar with his working environment was a big advantage. He was familiar with the work processes, which greatly minimized the introduction phase. Felix is very excited about the opportunity to continue working at Sensirion. He’s still not sure what he will do after graduation.

Robin (from apprentice to practice trainer)
Robin is currently employed as an Associate HR Administration Specialist at Sensirion and also serves as a practical trainer in Human Resources. Two years ago, she was still an apprentice at Sensirion. She completed an apprenticeship in business administration with a Federal Vocational Baccalaureate and wanted to stay at Sensirion after completing her apprenticeship. She was initially employed for six months in Order Processing before moving to Human Resources, where she was employed on two fixed-term contracts. She has been employed on a permanent basis since January 2024. The professional experience she has gained over the last two years has enabled her to become more confident and mature. She has been able to make more decisions and take on projects independently. Particularly right after her apprenticeship, she noticed what a difference it made to be fully responsibility for her duties. It’s a great feeling, but it can also be challenging. For now, Robin plans to remain with Sensirion.

Marvin (return after his studies)
Marvin successfully completed his apprenticeship as a design engineer at Sensirion in 2009. He then decided to stay for a year before starting his military service. After that he completed his Vocational Baccalaureate and studied industrial engineering at the Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences. In 2022, he was contacted by his former boss, who told him that a suitable position at Sensirion was available. Marvin seized the opportunity. He has since returned to Sensirion and works as a Capital Goods Buyer. He is responsible for purchasing resources for the production of sensors. In the meantime, the company has changed a lot. The number of employees has risen sharply and one building has turned into to four. The development really stood out for Marvin. Although his duties are no longer so closely linked to those of his apprenticeship, he regularly comes into contact with familiar activities. His apprenticeship made his start after his studies much easier, as he already had a good network and was familiar with the various product lines. Marvin can’t say for sure what the future holds. He wants to stay at Sensirion until further notice.
